How to be happy and productive at office?


It can be a confusing world out there, and when you are confused you are not productive. Productivity is a combination of plenty of things such as innovation, investment, enterprise, skills and competition. A lack of these ingredients of productivity leads to a lack of happiness. Employees who are the most productive are also the happiest at work.The following are some of the ways which help you be productive and happy at the same time at office:

  1. Track your time spent on tasks


You might think that you are very good at gauging how much time you are spending on different tasks. According to research around 17% of employees are able to estimate the passage of time accurately. So track the time you are spending on your daily tasks which include emailing, social media etc.

  1. Take breaks in between


Constant work can reduce your productivity and increase your stress levels and ultimately you will not be happy and as productive as you can be. So take scheduled breaks which will help in improving your concentration. According to research taking short breaks in between your long tasks will help you maintain a constant performance levels, on the other hand working on a task with breaks will cause a decline in your performance, productivity and ultimately happiness.

  1. Avoid interruptions

Interruptions are the biggest blockages to your happiness and productivity. Every time when you are interrupted in the midst of a task your productivity levels will be affected badly. It happens that workplace chatter around you can distract you badly and your will have hard time concentrating and when you finally manage to take your mind of the chatter going around you, you will forget where you were and it takes good amount of time to get back on track. So if you are working on something very important and have a deadline to meet, then kindly tell your colleagues that you are working on something important and to not disturb you for some  time and to keep the noise level down. This way you can concentrate on what you are doing and will be happy at what you are doing.

You must be confident and believe in yourself, if you are not you cannot take the right decisions or risks which your work demands. Confidence is the gateway to enhancing your productivity and this automatically leads to happiness whether it is at work or in your personal life. When you are confident of the outcome, you can get things done quicker, cheaper and faster.


  1. Take a exercise break


Using your work time to exercise will improve your productivity, drive the stress away and ultimately make you feel calm and happy about yourself. Many offices have gyms for their workers, do some light exercises to clear your head and regain your focus. You do not have to do some heavy weight lifting or strenuous abdominal crunches. Just do simple exercises like walking on the treadmill or cycling for some time. Do this during your lunch break or other break time. After the workout you will be amazed at how free and fresh in the mind you will feel. You can bust your stress levels and this will automatically improve your productivity and you will be happy that you have gained your focus and are able to work much better.
