  • Candy Crush: Soda Saga

You would have to have been living under a rock not have heard of The Candy Crush series. Soda Saga is the latest in their highly addictive puzzle game series. Many a person has lost a friend or family member to a Candy Crush addiction. Fortunately, they all recover. Candy Crush was one of the defining moments in free App Store games, largely due to the link with Facebook.

The initial phenomenal success prompted the developers King to release new titles, Soda Saga being the latest. Soda Saga does not deviate much from the original Candy Crush so if you loved the first one you will most likely enjoy the new version.

There are obviously a few new things to look out for but the format is very much the same. The game still requires you to think several moves ahead which makes it interesting and entertaining.

As with the original, there is an option to buy more lives or get them by nagging friends on Facebook. If you run out of moves you can always buy more.

So very much the same as the original but still a great game that has already become a classic.

  • Asphalt 8 Airborne

If you love high speed, dramatic racing games, you can’t get much better than the Asphalt series. The latest, Asphalt 8 Airborne is an adrenalin pumping adventure from start to finish. With little to no basis on reality, this driving game delivers mind blowing graphics as you race in a range of vehicles and scenarios. It is rather heavy on memory but a must for any racing fan.

  • Angry Birds

Another iconic game that simply has to be on any top list is the famous Angry Birds. There are a multitude of versions that have come out but the original will always be a classic. An entire industry of games, merchandise and even a movie has been built around the franchise developed by Finnish company Rovio Entertainment.

It is a quirky fun game that has enthralled millions, in fact billions, and it is the most downloaded freemium game series ever. It was first released in December 2009 for Apple iOS and was soon available on most other platforms and operating systems.

If you are new to mobile games, you have to give Angry Birds a try, even if it is just to see what all the hype is about. Many people say these games can be addictive and they may have a valid point. Don’t say you have not been warned.

  • Plants vs Zombies 2

This wonderful strategy game will keep you entertained for hours as you utilise your tools and plants to prevent the zombie apocalypse. It is a fast-paced game with lots of detail and intricacies while still being easy to follow for newer players.

If you enjoy clever strategy games, Plants vs Zombies will not disappoint.

  • Score! Hero

Sports games fans and soccer or football fans in particular will love how well this game plays on a mobile device. You can really have a lot of fun playing and score some amazing goals. It has a clever an entertaining storyline and comes with some interesting custom options and extras if you are prepared to dig into your savings a bit.

The entire game is based on rails so all the results are predetermined. Incredibly, it never comes across like this at all and you still feel totally involved in the progression of your team.
